RSA STREETSCAPE: We had a visit from the Road Safety Authority in September. The 'Streetsmart' team came to teach us about how to stay safe on our roads, using an interactive 'Streetscape Map'. See the link for more details: http://www.rsa.ie/en/RSA/Road-Safety/Road-safety-for-kids/StreetSmart/. It was a very successful workshop and every class from Junior Infants to 6th took part. The children enjoyed it immensely and learned so much from it. It was a fun and activity based day. All children received high-vis jackets and other things to promote and encourage walking, cycling and staying safe while staying active. Have a look at some photos from the day.
The children in 1st-6th class have committed to the 'Laya Healthcare Super Troopers' pilot programme this year. This programme is designed to encourage children to learn about a healthy lifestyle and increase their physical activity. Children will be given an activity journal to fill in each night after completing their tasks. We will fill in surveys throughout the year and hopefully see improvements all the time. Enjoy! We would appreciate if parents could take a minute to fill in the following survey as part of this programme.

We decided at the beginning of this year to apply for our first Active School Flag. We are all very excited about the process and are looking forward to a fun filled year of activity. We have discussed some ideas as a staff, informed parents and explained the Active School Flag to our classes. We also explored the ASF website which is very helpful. You will find a link to this on our homepage and in 'Useful Links'. This week we are collecting ideas for our Active Flag motto in the suggestion box and taking letters of application from anyone who would like to be on the ASF committee. Well done to all on the enthusiasm shown so far.
